Stanfield Nursing Home has been caring for loved ones for over 32 years. As a senior care home, we provide nursing care, specialist dementia care and rest of life care. As part of this, we offer lots of activities to do with the elderly in a care home. Read on to find out how we celebrated Mothering Sunday this year.
Mother’s Day During a Covid Outbreak
As part of our activities to do with the elderly in our care home, we celebrate all special days in the calendar. During Mothering Sunday this year, we celebrated all mothers in the home, from those we care for to our care home staff.
The usual routine of our senior care nursing home has been turned upside down. However, we welcomed lots of nominated Essential Caregivers into the home. Essential Caregivers are one person of a loved ones’ family who can visit Stanfield during this time. They were all fantastic in following the Infection Prevention Control procedures in place.
Those we care for received lots of flowers and presents from these visitors with time spent with their loved ones. Jorg Biermann (one of our directors) and June Esp (one of our activities team) distributed these flowers around to home to all the mothers.
Last year we received a lovely tribute to a mother whom we cared for, written by their daughter. See here for the tribute ‘Remembering Margaret 4 Years On’.
Special Menus Prepared by Our Care Home Chef
At Stanfield, we take careful consideration into all our meal plans. No matter what someone’s care requirements are, we ensure all of them have a varied, wholesome and balanced diet.
During special occasions, such as this, we create a special menu. The below meals were prepared by our professional chef and his team.
Afternoon Tea
A selection of sandwiches, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls and crisps. Followed by a selection of homemade cakes and fresh scones with preserves and cream. This was all accompanied by either tea or coffee.
Mother’s Day Meal
Roast beef served with Yorkshire puddings, creamed potatoes and a selection of vegetables. We also served a vegetarian alternative. Dessert was a lovely homemade chocolate and pear sponge with ice cream or cream.
Senior Care Nursing Home
At our Nursing Home, we provide person-centred care to meet individual needs. We have a range of care services available. Our staff are expertly trained in supporting those living with dementia. As well as this, we offer supportive and compassionate rest of life care.
With any part of our care, such as activities to do with the elderly in a care home, we believe in having continuous conversations with those with care for and their loved ones. This ensures that an individualised care plan that supports and caters to the specific wants and needs of the individual.
This is very important to inform the care we deliver. From understanding a person’s food preferences to knowing about their favourite hobbies. In doing so, we ensure the best possible care for every individual that best meets their unique needs.
