Here is another of our latest videos featured on our You Tube channel:
Listen to our Nursing Home Director Richard White speak on why nursing home staff training is so important:
“If you think of us within the whole of the health economy where I see nursing homes as part of that economy. We are actually a colossal part.”
“As we live longer we know the demographics of the ageing population and the pressures that is posing within the whole of society not just the health economy.”
“In my opinion there is a lack of appreciation by those within the NHS right from the department of health through to local commissioning CCGs about the part that the independent sector and nursing homes play within the wider health economy.”
“Nursing homes are no different to any other organisation, they depend on two aspects, they depend on the staff who they employ and the people who they serve and that is common throughout all industries.”
“What causes me some concern is our ability to recruit, train and retain staff who are committed to providing rest of life care for an ageing population. Each nursing discipline is very different, the foundation qualification is the same. You have the registered general nurse, the registered metal health nurse, midwifes they’re different disciplines but at the end of the day each one in that discipline will find a route in health care where they feel comfortable and are happy to work in.”
