Donations to Stanfield Nursing Home
Donations to Stanfield Nursing Home all started in 2014. The grandchildren of one of our residents raised money for the nursing home by doing a skydive. With ours and many other families’ encouragement and sponsorship, they raised a large sum of money for Stanfield. Since then, various people have also donated to benefit the care we offer in various ways. At Stanfield, we follow an individualised philosophy of care. Therefore, it was a large responsibility for us to provide something with these nursing home donations that would benefit everyone appropriately.
The individual behind the idea of a water feature
We are always doing our best to cater our care to those who live here. A special example of this is the very reason Stanfield’s new fountain came to exist.
We cared for Guy’s mother alongside her husband for a number of years. As Guy’s mother was nearing the end of her life, she made a special request. Of the various places around our home, she most enjoyed spending time reflecting in our dementia sensory garden. She believed a water feature would benefit the garden with the familiarity of the sound and motion of the water. As a result, she left a generous donation towards Stanfield Nursing Home and requested this in her will.
The reveal of our fountain
Stanfield Nursing Home recently held a function to unveil the new water feature in our garden. This celebration took place to recognise and thank past and present families and loved ones who have donated to our nursing home, primarily for the interest of our residents.
As a home, we continuously seek to update our care and support and cater our home to suit individuals and changing society. Over the years we save up donations to ensure we are spending on services and features that benefit not only those we care for but also the character of our home and the effectiveness of our staff. This time, we focused on a request made by a former resident at the end of their life who wanted to leave a large donation for all the residents who came after her.
This celebration was a very special day for bringing everyone together, including current residents and their families as well as former families. A staggering one hundred guests were welcomed into our home which is a real compliment to the team here at Stanfield. Knowing that families feel comfortable coming back and engaging with everyone again was a delight.
Hearing from the families
Stella was one of the family members who donated. Her mother and mother-in-law were cared for at Stanfield Nursing Home. Stella’s story involved a long search for a suitable care home for her mother-in-law but, in her opinion, nothing lived up to Stanfield where her mother was already staying. Stanfield will always hold an important place in Stella’s heart. Our team kept everyone’s spirits up through the end-of-life journey with what she described as ‘the magic of Stanfield’. She, among many others, believe the water fountain is fun and provides an added dimension to our outside environment.
Another family member who donated to our nursing home was Deborah. Her father stayed with us for a number of years and always supported the home with her mother. Deborah joined our occasion to celebrate the generous donations and reunion of many families. She expressed how wonderful and lucky it was to have Stanfield Nursing Home supporting her and her father. With the care provided at Stanfield, an estimated one week turned into seven years of his life.
Thank you for your continued support
Stanfield Nursing Home would like to thank the many families who joined us on this special day and to those who kindly donated to the nursing home to help our cause. Importantly, we will continue to update and tailor our home and activities to the interests of those we care for. This is to ensure their stay is as enjoyable as possible and our nursing care is provided to the highest standards.
