#GladToCare Awareness Week
Person Centred Software and Autumna have teamed up to create an awareness week dedicated to celebrating those who work in the care sector. Person Centred Software provides Mobile Care Monitoring. This is an intelligent mobile solution to reduce paperwork, give carers more time to care, and to overall improve quality of care. Autumna was established after Debbie Harris suddenly had to find a care home for her Aunty Margaret. Being under-prepared and uninformed for this important decision she established Autumna to help families understand and find the best later-life care options.
Following the coronavirus pandemic, the industry has experienced an incredibly trying period. They are encouraging all care providers to get involved and spread appreciation for carers. Glad to Care Awareness Week will show appreciation for the extraordinary contributions that carers make to the lives of people they care for, families, and community members. The week-long event will highlight the incredible happenings within the industry, promoting the positive of care to all.
The annual event will kick off on Monday 6th July and run till Sunday 12th July 2020.
Share Your Story
Their aim with #GladToCare Awareness Week is to challenge the public’s perception of care by shining a light on all of the incredible work that’s been done. They would like as many care providers and care workers as possible to get involved.
Various initiatives during the week will encourage carers to highlight reasons why they are ‘#GladToCare’. Through sharing stories, photos and videos, participants will be asked to showcase milestone moments that have made them feel particularly proud to be caregivers.
We need your help in providing inspiration for people to consider careers within the industry!
In order to generate media interest in the lead up to #GladToCare Awareness Week, they need your stories of why you are Glad to Care.
- Did one of your carers recently show an act of kindness to a resident?
- Did your care home put on an event or activities to boost morale through these unprecedented times?
Stanfield’s Story
Stanfield Nursing Home has the privilege of such a dedicated team who provide quality care to our residents. With such extraordinary staff it has proved a challenge to choose a single story to share.
As a result of Covid-19, many across the nation have been furloughed from their jobs. In our Glad to Care story, we were delighted when two qualified nurses volunteered to be part of our Stanfield team for a period of time. Both would normally be working in schools delivering vaccination programs which were suspended due to the virus. Supported by our training manager, Jo Baulch, they underwent our normal induction and dementia training to help at our nursing home.
Our photo shows the presentation we gave with the two nurses, shared with a socially distanced celebration with champagne and a Thank You card from all the team. This is one of many of our wonderful #GladToCare stories!
