This blog forms part of my recently commissioned series of videos showcasing the philosophy and daily life at our care home, Stanfield Nursing Home. In this article and accompanying video, Don, one of our residents’ husband’s, shares his story in his care home Worcester testimonial.
I come to visit my wife, my poor old wife, who’s been here rather a long time now. Nearly, well over 15 years.
I’m able, very fortunately, to see her every day. I come for about two, two and a half hours, mornings normally. I’m so lucky still to have her.
I was in a bit of a panic. I’d been advised by my GP to house her in a home, and fortunately there was a vacancy here.
The staff were decent, they were caring, they were courteous and polite.
It was a friendly atmosphere is the best way I can describe it.
The owner of the home is exemplary, in my estimation, obviously he’s in a business, but he has a caring and decent attitude to the patients here.
First rate, good nursing skills and whenever there’s any doubt they always call the GP, who is a local man, and a very good man, and he always attends very quickly.
I’ve not enough praise. It’s become really a bit of a family.
My own family are down in London, all three of them, three children. I’m coming up for 90 now, so yes it does mean quite a bit to come here and see people.
Just to have the odd word and, of course, to see my lovely wife.
I can certainly recommend Stanfield. The accommodation’s more than adequate. The care is, to my mind, of the highest order and they’re decent and friendly.
I’d like to thank Don for taking the time to make his care home Worcester testimonial.
